Eisenach & Wartburg Castle

We went Eisenach for 2 hours on a holiday in Germany, meaning nothing was open. So we sat at a cafe for 1.5 hours. There we met a bird who was very friendly because he sat on my friend lap, then a man helped us get him off but he wouldn't leave the man alone then. He would throw him off his arm and he would fly right back! It was comical.
We then went to the castle. The Castle had a beautiful view, but the castle itself was not as cool as I had hoped. And once again, it had something to do with Luther. I cannot wait to go back to America and not hear anymore about Luther! It was interesting to see though.

Erfurt

I really liked the city of Erfurt. We started with a tour where our tour guide had to prove a certain bridge was a bridge, twice. In case we didn't know the first time. We once again learned about Luther, which I'm gettin tired of. We got a lot of free time to ourselves. My roommate and I fed the ducks and walked around the town. It was a nice big little town! Then we had dinner at a local restaraunt, then girl bonding time with the group!

Weimar/ Buchenwald Concentration Camp

We started out the day at Weimar. The only problem was that there was very little to do in this city without doing museums, that you did not know what they were for. So, that was boring. We then went to Buchenwald concentration camp. This was an amazing place to see. It was very surreal. The only bad part about this was that most of it was torn down. There were no barracks left, which would have been very neat to see. We did get to see memorials, the crematorium, and the washroom. This was all very interesting to see! We then got to Erfurt and stayed in a beautiful hotel!!

Berlin- day 2

We went to Berlin for the second time today. Didn't like it as much the first time, so wasn't expecting much today. We took a tour today in the morning. It was cool to see places where the Berlin wall was still standing and the holocaust monument. We saw checkpoint charlie, which i did not think it was as good as people make it seem. Other than that, I ate ice cream and a doner, and finished souvenier shopping :)

Paris- Day 2

This day started off well after a great night of sleep! We began at the Louvre, which is a lot bigger than I expected. I really like it though, but I did not get to go inside. At the Louvre an indian woman came up and asked for a picture with my roommate and I, we have no idea why. Then we walked to Notre Dame, the Bastille, Luxembourg, and the Catacombs. Luxembourg was absoultely beautiful, one of my favorite places I went. The Catacombs were really neat to see, we barely made it in but I'm glad we did! We then went to see the Eiffel Tower at dark, and it was amazing. I loved the way it sparkeled! Afterwards, we went to a bar to try and wait until the morning bus came because we thought it would be fun to bum a night in Paris. We were wrong lol, but luckily we found one open until 5 am, and we just sat there and waited. When the bus came in the morning, we were obviously exhausted from being up 20 hours.
When we finally got to Berlin, we thought everything was good and we would make it back to Wittenberg no problem. Except the bus that was supposed to take us to the train station took us to the ghetto of Berlin instead, so we were lost. We finally got a taxi to take us to the train station. Once we got on the train, we were once again excited to be back. Except from lack of sleep, we slept through our stop and ended up an hour away. We had to buy another ticket and travel back, but we finally made it! Overall, and amazing trip :)

Paris- Day 1

We got to Paris! The first day we saw the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triumph, the Paris Opera house, and Moulin Rouge. We spend a lot of the day walking around and shopping for souveniers. We were also exhausted from having about 3 hrs of sleep from the night before.
While at the Eiffel Tower, we got lucky when some guy was trying to sell us little tower trinkets. He kept throwing out prices and we were deciding what we wanted and he kept going lower and throwing in more things, we ended up with a good deal. Katie was a good liar by telling guys who made string bracelets that we only had credit cards so we couldn't pay the 3 euros they wanted for each, Nice thinking! :)
We were exhausted from no sleep so we went to another hotel to try and find ours, luckily it wasn't far. We ate a crepe for dinner, which was good but a lot of sugar! Then we went to bed at 9 am and slept for 12 hrs, knowing that we wouldn't sleep the next night. First day was a success!

Leipzig

We went to Leipzig this weekend. Its supposively the birthplace of psychology, but there is NOTHING that says that. No rememberence of it, its important to me lol! Other than that, the city did not have very much. A couple of nice churches, as everywhere else has had, some buildings that have historical significance, A good boys choir, and a good restaraunt thats supposed to be top 10 in the world, Auerbach Kellers. Mostly, the town has to do with music, Bach. It also has the second largest train station in the world, next to Grand Central in NY

Berlin

 Day 6
We went to Berlin for the first time today. To be honest, I did not like it. There was some nice old architecture in their buildings which was pretty, but overall, I was not impressed with the city. My roommate Katie and I went to about 10 different souvenier shops and spent most of our time just walking, which made it even more boring. Then a lot of people were lining the streets and some guy got out of a car surrounded by police. We later found out it was the President of Paraguay, we took pictures before we knew figuring he was important. The trip itself so far has been good. Can't believe we will be in Paris in one week =)

Day 2

The morning starting off interesting because Katie and I went to get coffee. However, the woman was asking us questions in German, so we just stood there looking at each other. Finally, Katie saved us by saving we don't speak German and the lady tried to help us. The coffee ended up being good, with 4 cubes of sugar. We went to classes for 5 hours straight and learned that my birthday is Birch Tree Day according to the French back in the 1700's. Today is be chive day in the month of Floreal. Tonight for dinner we went to a German restaraunt, which was delicious. I had lummel and a glass of reisling wine, I'm legal here.

Arrived in Germany

We arrived in Germany today and are staying at the Colleg of Wittenberg. Three weeks ahead of us and no sleep on a long 9 hour flight. Exhausted, but we cannot sleep until after dinner. Just a couple pictures below of some of the buildings. We saw some churches and the church where Martin Luther nailed the 95 theses to the door, which the original door is no longer at. We saw Matin Luther's house and his statue. Can't wait until I'm done learning about Martin Luther. So far the weather has been nice and its been cool seeing different architecture and a different country. Just too tired to take it all in right now. (Below at the statue I'm not praying, I'm trying not to fall asleep. Picture next to that is Dr. Metzger showing around the students, including my roommate and I.)
